the detail is amazing. it sortof looks like an organic construction... not metal but some living tissue... very interesting.

Looks good, but the lighting could use some work. Add some dim blue lights (arranged to match the nebula) behind the ship with mapped shadows (medium size, medium quality, low sharpness). Now add a bright white light where that flare in the nebula is with raytraced shadows. Finally add a second, less bright, white light off to the right (out of the frame) with mapped shadows (medium size, high quality, high sharpness). That will give it much more dramatic lighting.

Then move the camera a little closer to the ship and zoom out (to emphasise perspective a bit), and angle the ship so that it looks more like is flying towards the camera than posing for an isometric view on a draftsman's board. ;-) Be sure to keep it below center slightly for my lighting suggestions to work best.
