In my carefree days as a totally irresponsible teen (especially after owning my first car), I used to crave soul music and very occasionally, there were DJs who wouldn't follow the "norm" of Motown's Jimmy Ruffin, Chuck Jackson, Martha Reeves, Junior Walker et al! (I love Motown don't get me wrong and was friends with a member of the Funk Brothers until he sadly died a few years ago)
I heard a guy one night with the most amazing high voice and generally wide vocal range. The artist? Rance Allen. Reverend Rance Allen to be more precise.
There's gonna be a showdown will be a track that won't leave your head in a hurry! Try it out, why don't you? You'll; be glad you did!
Archie Bell's version was easier to dance to, but if you really wanted to listen, then the late Rance Allen was your Man!

Ahhhhh..... REAL music! Not that (c)rap everyone blares at 9 million decibels these days. Miss the old stuff.. Never got tired of hearing Brook Benton's "Rainy Night in Georgia" - love that song. I'll have to give this one a listen.
