Description
Just something I was working on and returned to. This is my character Aryll, and I will probably be uploading more of her in the near future. Book four of my fantasy series is next up on the queue, after I finish the book I'm currently working on. So I kinda want to hype myself up ahead of time.
Focus here is her green eyes, although I was also sure to show off this fantastic sword model produced by a friend of mine. We'll be working on a new one soon, for the new book, so look forward to that as well.
I like it. I think I could have adjusted the hair just a bit more, but at this point I'm probably nitpicking. Outfit is the "Aftermath: Parched" from the Daz store. Hair is Biscuits dForce Jam hair.
Thing is, I keep upgrading her characters. These eyes are one of the first products I've purchased, and after looking at this for so long, I'm starting to think maybe I ought to give some of the others I have a try. Hers are supposed to be striking. You're supposed to be drawn in by them. These fall just a bit flat.
After that, I want to improve her skin textures. This was built using Skin Builder, but, admitedly, it looks dated next to some of the more recent skin textures produced both here and in the Daz store. I debate just trying out a few. The problem is, if her coloration shifts too much it will stand out from the book covers she already appears on. The solution is to either figure out the best way to "upscale" this, find a better skin that's a near-perfect shade match, or redo all the books covers. I'm quite fond of Bladesong's cover, so that would be unfortunate. However, is it vital to keep the character consistent.
Any suggestions, by the way, would be most appreciated!

It's a lovely looking render though! Not sure it looks dated, maybe just a touch flat? Some bumps and a little more specular maybe?
I've not played around with skins for a while, so don't take my word for it!
Yeah, I'm going to play around with it later. Maybe borrowing the bump map from Sahira 8 or similar will spruce her up. Thanks for the look.
A fine and mysterious lady and excellent character! Excellent render! Bravo!
Thank you! I'm glad you like it!
Amazing image, I thought it was a photo!!!!
That is the quest!
fantastic render
Thanks, Brain!
excellent
Thank you very much, my friend!
Great character. As to textures, I do like the ones from Colm Jackson at Daz. (in case anyone had missed it in my characters!) You can add the textures to your current skin easily enough and there is even a Bump modifier. Lots of different skin tones to get one too. Over here, I have liked using Maddelerium skins for some renders too.
Cool! I'll give them a look!
Quality work so beautifully crafted! Well done!
Thank you, Stevie. I'm glad you like it.
Very nice!
Thank you! Thanks a lot!
Beautiful and mysterious lady, fantastic character, wonderfully don!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you. She's got the soul of a star, and the blood of a dragon, so... it's complicated.
She is gorgeous and powerful and this is quite lovely and enjoyable. As far as suggestions: Play with dramtic light and shadow more. Think 'brain1969.'
That's what I've done. Now I'm trying to do more with lots of direct light. I thinking of getting that hair shader pack that is for that purpose, if I can ever remember what it's called.
Looking really great - I love the intensity in her eyes. I do agree with your assessment on the eyes. A bit more sparkle, or light maybe just on the eyes.
It can be a real hair-puller, getting the eyes to draw you in, and communicate feelings. I've struggled with that a lot in my own story..
Yeah, and these already have quite a lot of work to finagle all I can from the texture. I'm doing a render now with Twiztedmetal's eyes. See which is better.
very nice!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
i love the scene well done
Thank you.

Merci, merci!
Very nice indeed .
Thanks, Tux!
nice character
Thank you! If you're interested, you can look my up on Amazon to find the series she stars in, The Chronicles of Golide.
I mix and match textures and bump maps all the time. It adds variety and interest. She’s very striking already. (Pun intended)
I realized later that getting super close to the big TV I use for a monitor doesn't give me the most accurate view of the image. I open this on my phone, and she looks great. I forget sometimes that on the TV screen I can see the gaps between the pixels when I get too close. I really ought to upgrade myself one of these days...
I love the intensity of this! The eyes sell the heck out of it.
There are two things I would try with this one.
First, the mask needs to tighten up. If the morph won't allow it, shrink it then render once with and once without. Then you can paint out the poke through post production.
Second, I'd try creating a primitive plane. Just a basic one. Then turn it into an emitter. Play with the settings on that emitter while positioning it...well, if it was me, I'd set it to her left by about 45 degrees but you've seen my stuff. I'm all about the shadows :).
If you combine that with an HDR and you'll get some really awesome lighting. There's also a trick to blend someone into their environment better but I'm carrying on WAY too much here.
I love it.
Thanks for the advice! I kinda just went with it - spent a ton of time arranging fingers and hair. But now... I look at that mask and all I can see is how it "floats" and now I wanna fix it. XD
The mask for a Genesis 3 item and I just used auto-follow instead of converting it with the converter. Hmm. Now I want to play around.
Mostly, I wanted to show off the details on the sword.
Thanks again! I really do appreciate it.
