Someone mentioned my style reminded him of Bansky – That’s a super nice compliment, Bansky is awesome. I love silhouette art, and for those that have been following me since the beginning, you’ll know that much of my art has been silhouette art. My best series, Zam’s Prehistoric World, was all silhouette art.
The name Silhouette traces back to the mid-18th century French finance minister, Etienne de Silhouette. Because his name was synonymous with doing things cheaply and because he was fond of making these images himself, this artform was named after him. In America, Silhouettes were highly popular from about 1790 to 1840.
Anyway, it sounded like a fun challenge to make a Bansky style piece, so here’s Jack doing his best Bansky impression.

I'm not that familiar with Bransky, I've seen maybe 5 of his images, but this definitely brings him to mind. And it's more than silhouette, it's a wonderful way with graphic vs realistic elements, those wonderful grays behind full colors, etc. This is a wonderful image---I love jack (right? the boy?) in all grays, almost watercolor'd on, next to a photographic woman, who looks at those abstracted balloons that seem to come from J's hands...and the shadow, and wonderful beat-up trafic cone, etc. It's a real potpourri of visual poetry. Terrific job. I have no idea how you make your visuals, but you have your own style; and I've admired it from the start. This must be seen full size...the detail is wonderful.
