Ok, so I plan on entering the contest on Daz's website.
I'm currently looking at BOTH Josie pieces for possible submission, but since I have until the 31st, I'll keep going to see if I come up with something even better.
When it gets closer, I think I'll do sort of a collage post, and see what ya'll think. Then post whichever I end up choosing and post it to social media and all that. (Probably Deviant Art as well.)
Most likely the chosen submission will be of Josie, though I just might do a new one of Lenny or even Aryll if the mood strikes me. Not sure if they'll consider an elf as meeting the them of female empowerment in society, but then again anyone who's read her books would say she fits the bill.
It's been a while since I've entered a contest. I think I've grown since then. Hopefully I do alright.
Now, this one in particular saw more post-work. I ended up blending a filtered and unfiltered version, because the filter was messing with the eye color too much. I spent a lot of time getting those eyes to really sparkle. On top of that, I did an outline render just for fun. I used it to pump up her lashes, and better define the edges of the pantyhose on the floor. OH, and to pick out the nose ring just a bit. I rather like the end result.
My filtered version I ended up tweaking on the filter quite a bit tot cut back on it's intensity. It still provided better contrast, but now doesn't end up with quite the "magazine page" look. To my eyes, I think it works, but... I'll let others be the judge.
Now, my only concern with this as a submission is that I don't quite like the lack of detail in the sweater texture. However, it has only ONE material zone, so I can't really just use a 4k shader on it to make it better.

Thank you! It came with a pretty good lighting setup. Just had to get the character positioned "JUST SO."
And then when I worked it through a color enhance and a reduced Nat Geo filter, her skin really came alive. I love the contrast from where the light is hitting her fully, making her face glow.
But, maybe I'll get lucky and do something even more impressive for the contest? I don't know. I'm just glad there's no rule against posting in other places prior to entry!

Very interesting work. Since you have time, might I offer a slight modification and see how it feels to you? This is along the line of 'less is more." My suggestion would be to lose the object on the chair so that she gets the viewing audience's total focus. Just a thought.
