Description
Mother Angel and daughter Clarissa denying passage after a fight of some sort or another...this scene started with s lot more assets, drama and whatnot but the old 1080TI got cranky so I stripped it to as simple a setting as possible. Likely missed a little here and there but I got cranky also...
Both characters are armed with early 18th century weapons showing both English and Flemish influence as did most martial arms in the reign of Queen Anne. Both assets are still in development but getting close. The musket is an early flintlock (as opposed to a doglock) and is iron mounted per the original used as a model. It will also be modeled mounted in brass per the pistol. A lot of work went into shapes. proportions, markings and textures.
Scene stays true to Bernard Cornwell's Rifleman principle - clothes dirty, weapons clean.

Thanks gaius - wish there were more historically focused assets available for artists to explore - accuracy doesn't hurt in fantasy or near fantasy renderings a bit. Hopefully these weapons' will be included in a pair of asset sets for the Age of Pirates.

Wonderful image. Love the menace in Angel’s eyes. And the flintlocks are spectacular.
Thanks Mich - lot of time in the guns. Very few artists do much with early 18th century stuff which is interesting given the interest in pirates and swashbucklers. Some of the best period correct guns in cinema recently were the fowlers in The Favorite. These two were based on surviving military originals.
