Description
Sam had a seizure. He's heavily medicated tonight and a little loopy. The vet confirmed he's mostly blind and can only see shadows. His back legs are very weak, and he has a difficult time standing. The vet says to give him two weeks to see how he responds to the meds, then I'll have to make a decision. If I can make him comfortable so that he can lie on his bed and hear me talking, and still enjoy scritches, I think that will be reasonable quality of life for an aged dog. Dog people will understand why this was such a stressful day. I'm totally a dog person, always have been. I'm retired and stay home most of the time now, so Sam (and my other dog, Katie) have been my 24/7 companions for the last ten years. When I'm writing my stories, I'll often read the chapter I've just written to get their opinions - they can be very critical, especially if it's near dinner time and I'm still tappy tapping instead of preparing their dinner.
