Description

I’m going to skip over the six months they spent cleaning the truck up and fermenting apples from an orchard gone to weed to make ethanol. The truck works now, and we’ve moved on with this mini-story, which isn’t the actual story I’m writing; this is just a bonus story.

Amazing the truck can move at all with those flat tires. Very nice scene! Has a nice feel to it! But not like the return of the prodigal son, or in this case, daughter?

I've been playing with photobashing, there's eight bashed photo's in this image. It also led me to discover a PS technique I didn't know about before. I'm not sure how I keep making the tires look flat.

They collected apples from an old orchard (1 to 2 acres will do). Then they fermented the apples in a 55 gallon barrels, while at the same time cultivating yeast from a wheat field that went wild and continued propagating in the absence of farmers. While the ethanol was being made (about 21 days for 3 to five gallons of fuel per barrel, possibly more). They then collected 'dead' gasoline and built a reflux distiller to mix the solution and separate the water from the solution of dead gasoline and pure ethanol. While that was happening, they used whiskey found in old abandoned grocery stores to clean the sludge out of the truck's tank and fuel pump. After six months of work, they could have up to 300 gallons of lean fuel to burn. The dead battery was solved by push starting the truck. Once power was being produced, any battery stored properly in an old garage could be recharged. Once a battery was charged, any DC operated air compressor could be used to refill the tires. The apocalypse will be survived by Junior High Science Teachers, or anyone smart enough to know that collecting and stockpiling science, medicine, and farming books pre-apocalypse, is just as important as stockpiling food and ammunition.

That's the thing generally missing in all the apocalypse movies, where are they getting the fuel and food from. Canned stuff only lasts so long.

And this is why the best (hopefully) of our species will survive any impending apocalypses (and I hope it waits until after we're gone). Great job on the photobashing!
