Just an update – and some future plans….
Everything’s dried out – at least for now. I’ll be replacing some damaged tiles (again) and looking into doing some down-sizing. We just have way too much junk that we don’t need bogging us down.
This is our house – looks like a nice little place – and for the past 17 or so years it has been, except for the last few… We had a major flood in the basement in 2017 – I’m sure some of you remember that. I have a few photos posted in my gallery of the repairs, improvements (I thought), waterproofing (I thought), and so on.
Almost exactly a year ago (May of 2019) I had another minor flood that damaged some of the tiles I so carefully laid down. Just a few days ago, we had yet another minor flood, and more damaged tiles. One of my friends here suggested a ‘wellpoint’ which is where they drive a pipe deep into the ground close to the house. It has a sensor that detects when the ground water rises due to rain, and it pumps out the water before it can seep into the basement. From what he said, it’s cheaper than foundation repair or repetitive recovery. It sounds like a good option, and I would definitely look into it – if we were planning on staying here.
But we are not. And there are more reasons besides the flooding issues for that decision. For instance... THIS is less than 2 miles from my house. Gorgeous cars, but..... (I've been in that Quick-Trip a million times...)
We are looking at several ideas, including another house, or possibly a “retirement community” scenario. All options are on the table. I’ll be putting together another ‘Behind The Scenes’ video where I’ll talk about some of the options we’re looking at – as well as some of the reasons for making a move.
In the meantime, I’ll be working on getting caught up with comments, and working on the next page in the T.N.A. story.

great about getting the flood under control. those wall shingles looks like asbestos shingles. my mother's home had them. all the rage back when. great capture of your home. the people make a home, where ever it might be

We have lots of houses in the springs with your style of house Rod. I like it. Bummer things got soaked and ruined in yet the third flooding. Happy you got things drying up. Thankfully it wasn't that bad, but I will have to replace a few tiles. It's just that it keeps happening... That and a few other issues have us ready to find a new place to live. Will try and do a BTS soon...
Glad it was not as bad as it could have been. Still home repair is not something people want to do because of unforeseen circumstances. Good luck on your search.

The house is beautiful but you can't risk a fourth and fifth flood, climate change has increased the chances of floods 😌 Ponder well the dafarsi and best wishes for a better future 👍🙋♂️

I think you are making the right move in wanting to move it will only get worse as the years pass and the climate changes do it now while you can you wont look back...Good Luck with what you choose to do my friend :)
Such a bummer about the flooding, I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope all the electronics have survived?
Yep - all electronics are safe and dry. After the flood in 2017, I made sure all computers - UPSs and such were on stands that keep them off the floor.

Yes, it's a beautiful homey place, and I know it's been your home for many years now. But I do remember the earlier floods (and the excavation, and your two medical procedures, and troubles at work in your last year or two, and the noise, etc---you don't need me to 'remind' you, but just letting you know that I remember). You deserve a change. Why is it, at the time of life when we're supposed to bask in beauty and peace, everything goes to hell in a handbasket? Who wrote that script? Someone needs to tell whoever's in charge, "Jack? You got your timing ALL wrong..." Your area looks green and gentle and quiet (it LOOKS quiet, even though it's not), and it's hard to believe you have major thoroughfares near you, from these shots. Beautiful intimate area. And that car show---in your link? You hear that in your home??? What the...it must be like living near the Indy 500...(close up, those tracks roar!) You two are due so much now, I hope you find it, and with the least amount of hassle and with the greatest amount of peace and inspiration on the other end---I wish you all of it, Rod! And I'm glad your electronics are out of harm's way...that's one hassle you won't have to re-face. All the best to both of you, and here's to much greater, and more easeful vistas ahead!!!

Sweet looking home, i have no doubt there and many good times and happy memories attached, but obviously you have to make the best decision for you and yours...and i think its best in the long run....do take care and i wish you all the best in the future...!!
I have to say that from this view, your place looks very peaceful... but I know looks can be deceitful. I hope thing get better for you... man I missed a few of these... I'm behind as always.
