Description
Black Velvet Dress
I downloaded this dress from Free Stuff (Side Lace Minidress for G8F by Lustravias). While its default is a vinyl-like material, I changed it to iRay velvet.
Back in the 1960s my dad came home with a piece of black velvet. I asked why and he explained that it absorbs light. He showed how he could double-expose white lettering on the black velvet to get white lettering over a photo.
Remembering this, one of the first things I invested in for my photography studio was a huge piece of black velvet.
In this scene the walls of the set are black velvet, as is the dress.
The lighting is a single strip light camera left with 2 scrims either side, and a 4' equiv. round light camera right. Plus, the 3 neon tubes.
