Description

(more of my 'winter' series...a bleak industrial site, not far from home...) Still commenting! Will get to you all in the next couple of days (I'm slow!) Have a nice rest of your Sunday, and thanks so much for your visits! m (i'm sure there's a story with this, and since I'm a writer I should come up with something, right? But all I can think of is someone had a lotta carpets that needed cleaning, and threw them here, where they now double as sleeping bags...or reeeealllly huge pillows...) ------------------

Nice capture of the not so scenic side of the city. Keep warm and safe!

A version of recycling back to the ground? An interesting photo which will lead, I think, to some, hopefully, unique comments.

Tarps, aka, tarpaulins... which is a super funny word, if you ask me. Maybe they're boat canopies or lumber covers or dock sheeting or construction awnings or fishermen's tents or painter's drop-cloths? (I don't really know if these things actually exist) But, (sigh) it's more likely someone just decided to dump their trash at water's edge. Whatever these things are, it makes for a cool photo and some fun conversation.

Looks like a mess of wet nasty frozen carpets Mark. Maybe just tarps. Wonder who's used this place as a dumping ground? Cool b&w capture my friend.

I think this is where my carpet ended up after that flood in the basement a few years ago... Sure looks chilly there. Perhaps these will find a job covering up construction equipment; not that it would provide much protection...

Still it's a cool shot, Mark, that shows the dark and dreary to balance out the light and beauty. And it has its own strange beauty if you look c deeply enough.

Great capture of this gritty scene...do like your storyline proposal, but every time I see a rolled something or other, I think of dead bodies rolled up in them...I just read/watch to many mysteries :)

The sepia tone matches perfect with the scene.

What's this....an answer to my abandoned footwear? Tightly encompassed between the several folds of these worn tarpaulins are the shivering bodies of the down and out homeless, seeking warmth where ever they can find it, ala Southern California on a wintry day. Cool mono, Mark.

Mark, I have to say that you indeed did get me on this one. This is a very bleak scene, and I am struggling to find something positive to focus upon. What I did enjoy was the comments from Barb, as she pointed out how it sparked conversation.

I gues they are to cover all the dirt if it begins to rain :) Hard to work with wet dirt. ;-) Super sharp shot.

Looks to me like a place a building cleaning company would stack and store it's giant drop cloths. But how safe is this location, the cloths are just laying out there for taking and if a guy had a big canoe he could probably get a couple out of here every night
