“What did you mean Ann didn’t understand the implication of being the White Wyrm?” Jo asked when they were alone. She massaged healing potion into the cuts on Nim’s hands. Nim was glad it was helping. Usually, there was a limit of three hours before wounds wouldn’t respond to the potion. He was sure it had been longer than that. “Immortals are so powerful, their magic leaks out into the rest of their lives. They don’t age. They rarely get sick. They have a tendency to excel at everything they do, almost to the point they take it for granted. “Now, that’s an immortal. White Wyrms are even more powerful.” With the cuts healed, he could finally return his hands to human ones. “How much more?” Jo asked. “I don’t know. Ann’s beyond any tests I know, and I even know ones for checking immortals.” “Wow. So, would that make Ann invincible?” “I don’t know. My mentor used to say power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Ann just doesn’t realize how close she is to that kind of power.” “I’ve heard that expression before. But, I’ve also heard with great power comes great responsibility.
