Description
At the palace, they found Pt’this and Sapphire also looking for Nim.
“He’s not answering you either?” Ann asked.
“No. We checked his room. He’s not there. He said that was where he was going to scry Joanne,” Pt’this said. “The steward on duty isn’t able to find him, but thinks he’s here.”
“Could he be caught up in his drawing?” Andy asked.
“It might be possible, he’s done that before,” Ann said.
“I have his drawing stuff,” Pt’this said. “He asked me to hold it while he scried today.”
“We’ve checked the whole floor,” Sapphire said.
“We’ve been checking down here,” Andy said.
“Perhaps he went to wait in my receiving room,” Ann suggested.
As they reached the floor, Ann paused. “My study door’s open.” She hurried down the hall.
“Nim?” She called as she entered. She didn’t see anyone and thought it must have been a servant.
“Your lab.” Andy pointed. Light could be seen under the door. Servants wouldn’t enter there. She started for the door. “Wait, he’s casting a powerful spell,” Andy said. She switched to her mage sight and could see the magic light too. Soon it faded, and she knocked on the door.
“Nim?” She called.
He opened the door. “I hope it’s okay I used your lab.” He was holding a box. He stepped aside so they could enter. On the work table was the immortal’s spell book with parchment and another spell on it.
“Nim, what’s going on?” Ann asked. She looked at the spell he’d written.
“Joanne said she got a phone call the other night from someone with a similar accent to mine asking if she knew Tomin Mishtan. I didn’t tell her who it might be. I didn’t know what to say. But I’m worried about her. What if something happens? We wouldn’t know for days. So, I made a scrying charm. Using the instructions from the book, I was able to adapt the spell to be able to scry across worlds.”
“How is she going to use it?” Sapphire asked. “It’s here.”
“There is a spell for transporting objects between worlds, but I can’t cast alone.”
“Right now, you can’t cast anything. You’re just above a trance,” Andy said.
Nim started to argue.
“No,” Pt’this said. “It won’t do her any good if you’re dead.”
“We’ll do it together tomorrow,” Ann said.

Interesting, how will this play out? We'll read it in the next coming chapters. Great story and illustration. Well done, RP!
