Description
Joanne watched as the mirror returned to normal. Belatedly, she realized she was still in just a towel. She wondered what Pt’this had thought. He had at least been polite enough not to say anything.
She headed to her room to put on her pajamas. She hoped Nim was okay. She hadn’t realized how magic could affect someone. She was going to have to learn a lot.
She thought about how crazy the relationship was. He certainly wasn’t like most of the guys she dated, him not being human aside. He was shy and kind, with the saddest eyes she’d ever seen. His smile rarely reached them, and it never lasted. She didn’t think she would say he was depressed, but he was heading there, or maybe, given what he told her, he was heading back.
His obsession with drawing was interesting. He definitely used it as a way to cope. Thinking back, she didn’t remember him doing any kind of drawing at the wedding, but the next day, both at breakfast and lunch, he had used his fork to make patterns in his food.
He had his problems, but who didn’t? It was still hard to believe her feelings for him. He was sweet, a likable guy despite what he said. But as fast as she was falling for him, that was unlike her. As was having conversations with a man she barely knew wearing only a towel. Had she had anything else to put on in the bathroom, she would have, but he said it would be a few days before he could scry again and she didn’t want to wait.
She had thought about writing to him but knew of no way to send it. It was frustrating. She checked her work schedule to see when she could get away again. It wouldn’t be for a while yet, but perhaps she could take a long weekend and go back. She really wanted to see him and this way they could talk without him fainting.
The phone rang, and she answered it. “Hello?”
“Is this Joanne Thompson?” The voice asked.
“Who is this?” She asked.
The man on the other end ignored the question. “Do you know Tomin Mishtan?”
“What?” She was feeling rather uncomfortable. “I think you have the wrong number.” She said and hung up. It was only after she did that she realized the man had the same accent as Nim did. She didn’t recall meeting a Tomin Mishtan though, assuming that was a person.
She suddenly wished she wasn’t the only one there, but the other boarders were away on summer break. She checked the locks on all the doors and windows, even letting herself into the rooms for the other boarders. Then she wrote down the name to asked Nim the next time he scried her and went to bed.

Who was that? We'll know soon enough. Well done, RP!
