Description
Located in Gennes near Saumur
Perched 41 metres above the Loire, the church dates from the 11th century. The bell tower is topped by a 15-metre octagonal spire. Its exceptional location above the Loire makes it an ideal observatory. During the 1789 revolution, the place of worship was abandoned. In 1833 the municipality set up a school there.
Today, only the choir, the transept and the two apsidoles remain in the church. The nave now has only sections of walls.
In addition, this place became a memorial in memory of the Cadets of Saumur and their comrades-in-arms who died for France in June 1940.

Once again thank you for taking on this wonderful trip through France. Still I find it sad so many of these places are "Former" places of worship. Or am I mistaken does worship still continue here?
