Powerful deep cloud capture, with that deep shadow at the bottom of the shot---this looks like tornado weather in the Midwest. With that bright "silver lining" as you called it, on top. The city below looks like it's in for a major storm--even though it apparently didn't get one (accdg to your description---just rain). The trim on the house on the right has a nice muted ivory tone. Powerful and beautiful. I'm with the above comments.
