Description
Fleeing New York was done in the style of a romance novel cover. It's a political commentary about the 100,000s of thousands who leave New York each year, and the 1 in 10 college graduates who choose NOT to stay in New York.
Western New York is a great place to live... if you can afford the taxes. (Average income in Western New York is about $40K. My property taxes are about as much as the mortgage payment itself! About $1400 towards principle, interest and insurance, and about $1000 towards property taxes each month.)
So, I thought it would be fun to create a render and add some text that says it all.

and I thought the property taxes were too high here.here after turning 65 your taxes are deferred until you sell your home.
superb book cover art
Politicians in New York and California are forcing people to run away to other states. It's pretty sad because both are beautiful states.
Property taxes in NY usually were about as much as your principle and interest payments on your mortgage. So, if you were paying $1000 on your loan, there was a good chance you were paying $1000 in taxes too.
They have a program in NY for senior citizens, but in order to qualify to get your property taxes reduced you almost have to be in such poverty you can't afford a home.
It's kind of like the line you hear on TV shows where they cop says, "And if you can't afford an attorney, one will be appointed." Can't afford means you don't own a house or have any savings you can tap.
Why am I talking about this today....
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
Let's think of the Joy of Christmas and remember whose birth it is we celebrate.
I love it. Great art. The message is sad, but true.
Yes, and it isn't NY that's getting destroyed right now.
