Description
We flew into the wild, blue yonder and have returned to tell about it. As some of you know, Ray and I traveled to Cardiff, Wales and Ireland two weeks ago. He was an invited speaker at a conference and they generously included me in the trip costs. I’ve cobbled together some of the photos and am posting them in 4 separate uploads. This is a boiled down version of a slew of photos, most of them pretty boring since they were shot from the back seat of a small car flying down narrow country roads in Ireland with hedge rows on either side of the road. If you have question, just ask. I may have enough of my brain functioning to be able to answer it.
This first set starts with a selfie I took when we got to O’Hare airport in Chicago. Things were going smoothly at this point. As luck would have it, our 5 hour scheduled layover turned into 13 hours by the time we finally got airborne. Loose and missing bolts on one of the wings took a while to fix. The silver lining in this cloud was meeting a young woman who was also traveling to Wales and ended up being our guide through the scramble to rearrange our train tickets once we reached Heathrow airport in London. Thanks to her we not only got rescheduled but on a train that arrived in time for the pre-conference banquet. The hotel was fabulous and the view of the harbor stunning.
The conference was a success and Ray earned his supper and then some. They have already put out a short video on it if anyone is interested. We caught another train at the crack of dawn the next day and caught the ferry at Fishguard to take us to Rosslare, Ireland.

Hey! Welcome back, Teri! Looks like you and Ray had a great time! Now, while you were staying at Cardiff, did you happen to see the Girls' new yacht moored at the dock?

If you go over to ShareCG, Arjin has a 3D model of Cardiff - it's what I used for the dock where they first saw the yacht (they're in Newport, RI in the story). It doesn't have all the buildings of the real place, but enough to be recognizable.

In the top photo, ray looks like he just saw a ghost, lol. And you look like you're having a great time. The pics are familiar to anyone who's traveled and snapped shots from cars, going into hotels, etc etc. Really nice views. And that was a pharma convention? You said it was a medical conference. So I assume Ray works in that field. From some of your other posts, I always thought he built and played instruments. And also programmed for computers (I thought I read that somewhere.) And he also works in medicine or pharmacology or related? A man of many talents!
I'm jealous, I hope you had a lovely trip.
