Description
The Valley of the Sun had a nasty surprise. For three days Arizona, the entire State, got hit by a winter storm that dropped up to 4 feet of snow on the high country (seven feet a Snow Bowl) and record amounts of rain on the valley. Also the temperatures have been unusually cold for February. On Thursday, 22 February, the high temperature in Phoenix was 47 F, (average daily high for 22 February is 72 F) breaking an old record high set in 1897.
The northern outskirts of Phoenix, Anthem, Cave Creek, Care Free, Northern Scottsdale and Fountain Hills received varying amounts of the White stuff. In other parts of the Valley, there were isolated thunderstorms, hail, and graupel, all due to the El Nino.
