Description
L.E.D. Lighting - I get so tired of photographers who poo-poo L.E.D. lighting. A few years ago I decided to stop shooting with flash inside the studio. With the help of my son-in-law, we replaced every light fixture in my studio with LED lights AND, I built my own studio lights. The result was a 100% LED studio - for regular light and for photography.
TIP 1 for LED lights - get a high Kelvin light. None of this 3200K crap. Go for the higher end 5000K and up. Also look for the color rendition index (CRI). The higher, the better.
TIP 2 - let the light size and shape do the work for you. If you want a strip light, get LED fluorescent tube replacement lights. Kiss the softboxes goodbye. You can get 2x4 foot LED panels that are only 1/4" thick!!!
For rendering, you can create all of this. But, if you're in to photography too, LEDs are the way to go.
For this shot I used a 2x2 foot panel as the main light, and an LED flashlight (yes, a battery powered flashlight) for the hair light.
