Description
What Child is This?
(Dedicated to Marc Viau)
What child is this, who laid to rest on Mary's lap, is sleeping?
Whom Angels Greet with Anthems sweet,
while shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the King!
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing!
Haste, haste to bring him laud,
the babe, the son of Mary.
Merry Christmas to everyone at Renderosity, to all of you for your support, and for your friendship.
Poser/Photoshop - Xtinctions Baby Texture/My Ravyn Character/Texture Map The Cathedral Frame and Window are not a model, but pieces I put together, layered and lit, using Photoshop
(This was originally an 80mb file...I have labored for weeks, and just finished this morning. I am trying to convey what I see when I sing at Midnight Mass in a gothic cathedral)

Now this one gives me goosebumps....it's beyond any words...only feelings...many wonderful feelings...God Bless You, and I wish you and yours a most wonderful holiday season :o)
it's beautiful Syyd. But I expect no less from you.
Awesome Syyd! The background gives me the creeps. (with a trembling hand Rene right-clicks, to save image as)
the line quotes."Your helpful comments for improving this image:"....i can find no need for improving..Syyd, four words for ya...you are the greatest:)-crane
I love it!!! It sets an incredible mood, and I love how she's symbolized by a modern day women. Beautiful work.....this is why you remain the queen of all things poser!!!!! Merry Christmas to you to Syyd!!!!
Oh Syyd, there are no words for the beauty of the image, and the beauty of the meaning of this render. This is breath taking!!! Great work as always Syyd!! Happiest of holidays to you and yours ;o)
Great composition, you have brought all the elements together nicely! In other words, I LIKE IT!
this is outstanding Syyd, soft, beautiful, yet dramatic. A modern Mary indeed as Neverenuff says, but at the same time it is like a painting, or a classic virgin statue in the window of an old catholic cathedral. This one is print material.
Fantastic work Syyd, Bravo! The facial expressions are exquisite. Your singing must be beautiful as conveyed by this work of art. Merry Christmas to you and yours Syyd, and Happy New Year. Ray
Beautifully done! The lighting, poses, expressions, choices of color -- everything. Would dearly love to watch how you put all these elements together, especially considering that this was an 80 meg file... and Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.
Thank you all so so much....Aprilgem, this was one of the hardest pieces of work for me..jigging it at that size cost my machine a few crashes, thank god I saved, I had to save and purge continually. I added the lights in poser to give me great shadow and depth on the models,(something I need because I layer so much) and then into Photoshop, I used lighting effects and I must have added so many lights I stopped counting. Illuminating the windows was very hard to do, because one small move the wrong way and there were spotlight circles all over the place. Perhaps Santa would find me a 1ghz processor, some major RAM, and an Elsa or Oxygen 64 Graphics Card!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Syyd I dont usually like religious stuff, but gotta admit, this is beautiful, just dont send me to the confessional! LOL, seriously reminds me of the inside of a church. RIPPIN!
Oh my God, I wish I would not get sleep so early yesterday. Sister this is the best and most spiritual piece of work I have ever seen in my LIFE. These lights, the window, Madonna and Baby - a pure Perfection. I LOVE THIS ABSOLUTELY. I wish You also Merry Christmas and to Your family but we will talk for sure before Christmas :) Love Ya my Dearest! Me
A beautiful interpretation of a religious theme. You also managed to avoid the trap of being overly sentimental by giving Mary a non-virginal look. Total brilliance! The only suggestion I would make is the left arm on the Christ child looks slightly weird. Have you thought of using it to expose one of her breasts?
It's beautiful Syyd, three weeks well spent! The window is perfect. Merry Christmas to you too. :-)
VERY beautiful !! Merry Christmas Syyd !!
Excellent image... very beautiful!! Well worth the effort.
i do not believe in god or jesus - but i believe you make the best poser-pics around!!
Well, I'm WAY overdue for commenting on this image, Syyd.... This, however, goes beyond any words I could artfully call forth, so.... I will defer to your personal comments to me when I was feeling afraid... We are ALL Mary.... Thank you. I love you.
WONDERFUL WORK!!
Jasmin, I have missed you and am glad to see you posted to this work....I have been worried about you, so if you get this message send an email
Dear Syyd... This is an utterly amazing and beautiful piece of religous 'Iconic' work. The best that I have seen here. I witnessed you making this and I can vouch for how much time you laboured on it. XXX from Colm....
I love this one!! Absolutely the most wonderful piece of work I've seen here!!!! You're my master!! :))
