This artwork is a completely remastered redux of an artwork I first created in 2011 and then again in 2012. This new version looks slightly similar but with much more detail and more of a monochromatic effect.
The monochromatic effect was achieved by selecting and creating textures for all the scene elements in gold tones and then using a gold toned light setup which included IDL. (There is an IDL projecting sphere inside the crystal ball to project light on the table and around the scene as well.) I then took the scene into Photoshop where I faked the depth of field effect and adjusted the colors to be even more monochromatic with actions. I then finished with a vignette effect around the edges. The “magic” on the crystal ball was created with Rons Digital Energy brushes and a neon PS style.

Your commitment to this color story is admirable, and very effective! The wash of gold really gives this a warm and inviting feel that evokes candlelight and magick. My compliments also on the details that give the composition a realistic feeling (the table and chest in the background) as well as those wonderfully detailed beads. All in all, I can see that you put a lot of hard work into this – and it pays off!
