It was a privilege and a pleasure to serve - 1968 - 1972.
Looks super
Great capture.
nice capture
w/ others above, I again thank you for your service, and all you went through for all of us. I imagine the memories never leave you. And it's always so touching when veterans of one war salute veterans of another. This is such an honoring and proud shot, Harry, it's one of the nicest, most affirmative photos of soldiers I've ever seen. I love their expressions, and how splendid they look. With that blue sky behind them. This looks like you were at a car show, maybe? Wherever it is, these 3 grace the area with their presence, as you do with yours. There are shoe companies which now sell boots like thes---for consumers. (Look up Allen Edmonds, and look up their boots. I think they still sell a Normandy model.) For the soldier, I assume they were life-protectors. A splendid photo, with splendid detail, and perfect for Veterans Day.
(I had a friend who fought in Viet Nam---twice, in fact: once as a soldier, the 2d time in Marine Reconnaissance---who said something like: "I'm always amazed to meet veterans of other wars. The vets of Iraq and Afghanistan had equipment we only dreamt of; and the veterans of WWII---they saw a kind of battle we rarely saw in Nam. Our battles were cramped, small by comparison. And they did it without the equipment even we had, not to mention without the equipment soldiers have today. But no matter what war we were in, when we met each other, we shook hands. 'Band of Brothers'," he said, "we have a bond". His name was Eric, and he died a year ago, in his early 70s. He always nodded when a veteran walked by...Beautiful shot, Harry, and thanks again.
