Or, depending how you look at it, it's the first rose of Autumn. I managed to cut two more buds before we got hit with a severe hard freeze last night.
This lovely Queen Elizabeth only puts out two or three flowers a year. It doesn't seem to matter what I do for it. I suspect she doesn't like the stuff the black walnut tree roots put into the soil. They are everywhere here in the yard, so no where is safe from them.
The few flowers are well worth the work for me.
