I'm back on rr for a week or so, and have the pleasure of commenting in your gallery once more. I've seen everything, Richard; but when I return to comment I get to actually share thoughts and feelings.
Re your reply above, they made cars through early february of 1942, then stopped. They stockpiled all the cars from Jan and Feb, and I don't know how they handled them. Maybe some were sold through the year, or saved till after the war. So if this model was from '42, it was probably made in the first several weeks. I'm pretty sure about this, as I read about it last year, for a related issue. You can find it on history sites on the web.
Second, what a great car! Maxidyne's version is so glittering and jewel-like. But your version is gloriously decayed, like an old brass bear. I love the rust and corrosion, and the doors where the sheen is completely rubbed off. And the broken windshield, and pink inner tires. These are big works of art! Your shot is sunny and flush, and brings out the bear-like quality of these old beasts. In fact, I love all the car shots you've posted recently. You capture them with total ease.
