Description
Painting by Horace Pippin who served with the all-black 369th Infantry Regiment; the first to reach the Rhine. Painted in 1931, apparently the experience of the western front haunted him long after the shooting was all over.

The Baltimore Museum of Art is just south of Johns Hopkins University and has quite a collection... very varied. We will sample some of its offerings.
My first trip to the BMA was in the early 1980's when my mother-in-law visited from the UK and she read about a special exhibit being held: Matisse. When we got there, the place was undergoing serious remodeling and the Matisse exhibit was disappointing... construction paper cutouts of what were supposed to be flowers. That put a bad taste in my mouth; if this is all they have to rave about, send me back to the Walters.
Well, we gave the place another shot and found a really classy museum without emphasis on refrigerator art.
