Yes, the spear is the same spear. And I'll give a spoiler on that because I don't know if I will get to the point of posting that explanation. There is no spear. It's a secret way for immortals to send messages. They will send someone to pick up (or steal) the spear and give them a picture. The image of the spear will have runes from a spell. Certain ones will be wrong and those would form a message. If there is no picture, like with Darina, the messenger or thief is to be killed.
