Description
Created 2004.
Natives of Africa, meerkats are small burrowing animals, living in large underground networks with multiple entrances which they leave only during the day, except to avoid the heat of the afternoon. They are very social creatures and they live in colonies together. The alpha pair often scent-mark subordinates of the group to express their authority. There may be up to 30 meerkats in a group.
To look out for predators, one or more meerkats stand sentry, to warn others of approaching dangers. When a predator is spotted, the meerkat performing as sentry gives a warning bark or whistle, and other members of the group run and hide in one of the many holes they have spread across their territory.

Saw this five minutes ago. Still lmao !!
I love the concept of meerkats with binoculars! It's perfect! The way they're always scanning for danger, they look like little scouts on a mission. The binoculars just add a delightful humorous touch.
Great fun!
Sector 1 all clear, Sector 2 all clear, how you doing over there, Bob?
I got movement in Sector 3, Bill, stay alert.
love rod's comment, and wolf's little dialogue...I love how you interpreted the info from your wikipedia blurb: Sentries with binoculars! Great concept. And you have one halfway in a hole, and a few others looking around, sniffing, etc. Love the concept of this: great job! And the binoculars are army green---maybe they had military training...Also, I don't know what the closest m.kat is looking at, but there's a lot of blue in his binoculars, and it suggests that this is some strange planet they're living on, or maybe he's looking into another planet. Terrific piece, Harry.
