Description
This image comes from an exercise to see if I could create a fairly realistic alien planet. I went outside and took photos of rocks and boulders, then went to NASA and downloaded some images of the Martian surface. I put them all in Photoshop on different layers, overlaid them and fit them together. Then I put the resulting texture on a sphere in Vue using the image as a bump map.
Planet 2096 has a thin atmosphere. There are underground pools of water that are formed when ice melts at the poles. There is thin seasonal vegetation that forms in the upper areas of the planet. It is one of the few sources of bimainium. A blue mineral that has unique properties and is used in AI memory storage.
