Description
Tried out a new technique using gray scale bitmaps and layering the resulting landscapes. Light on resources and I think is fairly convincing. I hope you enjoy it. - Bob
Buildings are Stonemason's on Daz.

Awesome scene!
This looks great! The bitmaps work pretty good for propagating the ecosystem?
Yes, the gray scale maps (tif, png or jpg) worked fairly well. You make a regular landscape, mix it with a gray bitmap (photo) at 100%, adjust the height, bring the bottom up so some of it disappears, You can use more than one landscape and layer them. I used the gray scale map as the texture (it matched perfectly). Then, either place buildings to add detail or you can make a basic grayscale map (plain gray squares) and make it an environment using buildings instead of plants. Put this layer on the bottom. You have to experiment, but this are the basics. A good free program to make the grayscales is "Fuse". It's amazing and simple to use. Have fun. - Bob
