Description
Jasmine would like your sympathy, her days have become a nightmare, she is a drama queen.
I heard that we have has a SUSPECTED case of the dreaded Alabama foot rot. So this means everytime the girls come in from a walk they have to have their feet well & truly washed. Plus everytime I wash her feet I remember that I must cut her nails & that is something she hopes I will forget about. Jasmine is the biggest wuz I know.
I am going to the vets later so I will ask Phillip what the situation is & maybe Jasmine will be able to forgo the foot wash.
Alabama Rot, or cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy (CRGV), has only recently been recognised in dogs in Britain after first being identified in the US in the 1980s.
It causes lesions on the skin and occasionally in the mouth, which can look like bites, sores, wounds or stings, and some dogs go on to develop life-threatening kidney failure.
Alamba Rot causes tiny blood clots to form in the blood vessels which blocks them and can ultimately lead to damage of the affected tissue.
This causes ulceration in the skin but in the kidney it can lead to organ failure.
If untreated, dogs can develop a raging fever and will eventually die.
The disease is fatal in nine out of ten cases and dogs of any age, sex, or breed can fall victim.
Between November 2012 and May 2015 there were 56 confirmed cases in the UK.
The total number of deaths is now believed to be at least 126.

Hope none of your girls get it, great capture!
I do hope not!
Beautiful shot really beautiful :)
Oh, my. This is terrible. I do hope the vet's news is good. I always washed my dogs feet after being outside...NYC is so filthy with soot and I didn't want it mucking up my carpets...never heard of this disease, but it does sound horrific. Fingers crossed.
Interesting information Barb I sure hope your girls will be okay my friend such a lovely shot!!!
I totally agree with Shrooms comment in every way.
This sound like a horribly disease, crossing fingers your vet has good news.
Xo
My thoughts and prayers are with you in the hopes Missy Jasmine does NOT have it.
Good grief! I hope you get good news and that the girls will not have to endure this.
