Description
Mallard pair up in the Autumn and then start to lay in about March. At present all is fairly quiet at Coy Pond, but there can be very violent periods of mass rape at certain seasons, which are horrible to witness.

Excellent capture !!
Nice photo of a peaceful couple. But, mass rape (that's nature for you. Survival of the fittest, and eat the ducklings if there are too many, particularly males). Mallards/ducks can be very fierce. In the pond I passed on my way to work I noticed the other birds backed away if a "quacker" approached. And feeding them if the pond was frozen - MY, what a melee! And they DO step on your blue suede shoes, like it or not! And bite your fingers in their enthusiasm to get that piece of bread you're about to profer the next one! But, fun to watch, and feed. Keep up the good work! :-)

A handsome couple. I was going to say their marriage was just ducky but after the information about rape and the fact that she seems to be ignoring him I'll just call them Donald and Melania.
