Junior was my taxi driver and Angela is his wife. Junior told me that his great-grand father was German and one can see in his features that he is not a full-blooded Samoan, Angela is. On the second day at Matareve a young Dutch couple showed up. She is a teacher and had just come from Indonesia and her boyfriend was a computer engineer and had come from Holland so they could spend some time together. She had been in Samoa before for several weeks and had stayed with a local family at the time. They had rented a taxi to visit her host family and when I told them that I couldn't get a car they suggested that I talk to their taxi driver which was very nice and had reasonable rates. So the next morning when they got picked up I talked to the driver (Junior) and his wife Angela and we agreed on a rate and the following morning they picked me up end showed me part of the island. i realized that this was the better way than driving my own car, I would have missed a lot of sights they showed me and provided a lot of information. I realized how remote this place is by what I saw. It probably will never be a main tourist attraction because of its remoteness. I knew the place was in the South Pacific and I had been Australia and new Zealand before, but those are big countries, this is just speck in the Ocean.
