Description

The bar is located across the street from the Mission San Jose de Tumacacori visitor's center on the Old Nogales Highway about 45 miles south of Tucson. Abe's father, Tirso Trujillo, originally built a store and gas station and added a bar at the end of prohibition. Unfortunately he passed away several years later and when Abe turned 21 years of age his mother handed him the key to the bar and he had operated it for 60 years. Abe Trujillo was a Santa Cruz County deputy sheriff for 19 years and later an investigator for the county attorney 's office and tended bar when he was off-duty. The bar was popular with golfers and John Wayne was a regular. Even Grace Kelly and John Lennon were known to have been there. It was a popular stop for visitors to Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.
