Description
This image has a LOT of detail in it. Really, Zoom it.
For orientation, the Confederate line is approximately the distant tree line. From the left, we see a vehicle in the mid distance and it sure looks as if there are six horsemen around it.
Continuing across at that mid-distance level, we see a parking lot which has several monuments to the right of it. Behind these we see either a large rail fence or a line of cannon at the tree line.
Continuing across, the tree line breaks for an open area and there is a large plith which may be the bottom of the Robert E. Lee equestrian statue. Then it may be a monument in its own right. At any rate, this area is pretty close to where Pickett's Charge originated.
We will peek around the Union lines from this vantage point as we walk around the observation deck.
I'm going to comment that the last time we were here, the private "space needle" observation tower dominated everything on the Union side. I am soooooo glad that it is gone. Yes, I understand that folks can do what the want on their own property, but sheesh....
Anyhow...
Enjoy; thanks for viewing.
