Description
It just so happens that three of my most recent reads are titled or sub-titled ' Secret Lives' !
I am halfway through the third one, Call of Nature, another that is mainly about insects, this time that live in or on dung. Fascinating !
There is an insect called the 'Sloth Anus Beetle' who lives clinging on close to where you can probably guess, and when it's host pops down to the ground for a poo it quickly lays it's egg in the dung and then climbs back on for the ride back up the tree. This book is full of such riveting stuff, most enjoyable.

Superb capture Andrea. God bless.
all three books sound fascinating and delightful
Amazing reading, the things you teach us!!!
Well no one will ever accuse you of having a boring reading list! That beetle needs to get a better agent. The large sacred scarab (Scarabaeus Sacer) was famous for its habit of rolling balls of dung along the ground and depositing them in its burrows. The female would lay her eggs in the ball of dung. When they hatched, the larvae would use the ball for food. The Egyptians turned it into the god Khepera who pushed the sun across the sky just as the beetle did with its ball of dung. I guess its all in who you know.
Very interesting reading, thanks for sharing .
The titles/ sub titles are very fascinating indeed !

They look quite inviting, but I dare say I wouldn't get through any of them. You never know, though. I've read some excellent books I thought I wouldn't enjoy!
They do look interesting and I wish I could read books again, but it makes my eyes look double within a short time.
