_____ Taken once again somewhere in the countryside in the 'One-thousand-lake' region, up in the Vosges mountains (France) : a dead and dry leaf, still floating on the surface, is waiting to decompose at the bottom of a shallow puddle of water that an earlier autumn rainshower has generated...The cycle of life!...

I sometimes imagine I'm just like a leaf: I come into being, last for a time and then pass on and decompose...
It's a deeply depressing thought, this seeming futility of human existence, indeed of all existence -- until one reflects that, hey, one never 'came into being' in the first place. There is only the Great Circle of Life. What we call a wave is really the ocean in disguise. And how can anything birthless know of any death? :)
