After the parade was over I figured I would drive back to Sierra Vista and eat a free steak at Applebee's in the evening. Most Arizona restaurants serve a free meal to Veterans on Veterans Day. But Jim had other plans, he and his wife invited me to the Willcox Elks Lodge where they celebrated the 50th anniversary of the class of '67. Jim's wife was one of the graduates. Sadly, of the 80 that graduated 31 already passed away. The music was provided by the 'Local Boys', according to Jim they have been playing together for 50 years or so. No fancy record label, no invited Tennessee country-singing celebrity, and god forbid, no European singer that practiced the local twang and would be singing about something he/she don't have a clue about. These guys are ranchers, or in ranch-related businesses who grew up in this town.. And some of the class of '67 ventured out of the floor and did the country shuffle, but most of all, old stories were retold, and/or warmed up.
