lol, Mark. Well, some people agree with you. I don't: I think this is very compelling and mysterious. YOu captured a deep gaze and mood, like he's troubled or sunken in sadness or querying...Maybe he didn't turn out as you'd planned, but this is a very powerful drawing, Andrea, very penetrating. Your different colors---esp the oranges and purples---give him a deep introspective and troubled look. And you did his eyes as the only two things that take him out of his darkness. I not only don't 'dislike' this, it think it's an emotional knockout.
Wow! I must say, I like this original best of all. His expression is engaging, a little mysterious, perhaps guarded. It's an intense gaze, one that says he's seen a lot, but has turned his discomfort inward. As Mark says, it's emotional. I sat and looked him in the eye for quite some time, and came away feeling like I'd made an in-the-moment connection with this man.
