Description
Here is the 1st of another three part series of Butterfly images. Although I don't see that many Butterflies on my property and the fact that they can be quite difficult to approach in the wild, I have managed to get some shots on occasion.
With over 400 species and subspecies, Texas has more butterfly species than any other state. This is a Dustywing Butterfly, (commonly called Skippers), but I am not sure which one it is. The genus Erynnis (Duskywings) is probably the most difficult group of North American butterflies to identify in the field.
This little butty looks like it has lost an antenna and some chunks out of it's hind-wing. My best guess is that it is a Horatius duskywing.
Thanks to all who have taken the time to comment on one of my postings.
The feedback is appreciated.
I hope everyone who has clicked on one of them was pleased with having done so.

I also noticed the missing antenna - and what I really like about your photo is the butterfly is free to fly away! And I like your photo effect.
