A huge thanks to Jean.C for letting me use one of his fabulous photos of Abbey.
I used a filter to change the image tone a bit. Hope you like. My first post with the shocktober feel. Was going to post on Monday, but with that tragedy in Las Vegas I changed up the posting for that day.

I thought a first this was Worms cathedral but on closer expansion I see she is an ad for Medusa cement whose dry bulk freighters I used to see on the Great Lakes. "What light from yonder window glows?" A little of the old bard might tinge the potency of my remark.

One has to see this full size: You've given the woman's skin a 'snake' pattern---it's subtle but it's there. And of course her hair is all snakes. I'm not sure what the legends are, but your image speaks of mysteries, dark secrets, revelations coming from outside---the light through that window is blasting and silk-like---and a deep dark history in those inner walls. Great job on the decay in the stone: Some of it is pure oil painting. You handle deep shadow and heavy light really well, Steve. A mysterious and deeply expressive image, with a sense of painful revelation coming through the window...but somehow we believe she will be redeemed.
