Description
We had a great time at Brittany & Diego's wedding! We got there on Thursday, September 21st, for the rehearsal, which took place at the top of a cliff overlooking Lake Chelan. It's a beautiful setting in a vineyard, and when we first saw the place, everyone gravitated to this view like it was a magnet. There were gasps and exclamations, and we were all delighted to be there.
If you spend a bit of time looking at the people, you would be forgiven for thinking someone had hired security for the event, but the guy in black wearing sunglasses looking like he's Secret Service is really my brother, Trent.

Looks like a XIXth century painting.
I watched all the guests for a quit a long time, of course I saw your "body guard brother", lol. His attitude is a little defensive, with the arms over each other. And what a beautiful view, a little windy, I think, but a place to enjoy, as one would have enjoyed the company of each other. Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend.

Love this potpourri of loved ones, and light and shade and expression, etc. Yes, Trent DOES look like a Secret Service or Special Ops guy. But it's also from his stance, not just his clothes and s.glasses. Most of the people have their backs to us, but we still feel drawn into them. And the bright light on the left (on the people) and shadow on the right gives the shot real contrast and gentle drama. And you've managed to line up the heads of the people in a fairly straight line (not easy when you're doing opening perspective like this---opening up in space as the people get closer). And the line of mountains/hills in the background line up with that as well. I see Bill back there, smiling! A really fine ensemble piece, with real musical flow and composition, and a good way to start the series...
Btw (we'll talk about this), you said, in a comment to me, that when you try contrast, you mess up. You'll have to tell me what you were talking about, because you've used contrast beautifully for years. Your many objects or people emerging out of deep darkness (with gold, red and some yellow tones) are all ABOUT contrast. Your architectural shots can be loaded with linear and angle contrasts (and textures). And so on. I'm not sure what kind of contrast you do badly---unless you were referring to the strong black and white contrast I did in that photo. But even there, I recall you doing monotonal contrasts with total ease. A topic we'll have to discuss. Bring your notes...
