You get the curve of the lens in some of these shots, and it suits your composition perfectly. Because the center rock (here) feels like the 'climax' of the shot, as the two sides of the shot "slope off". They lead up to that peak, in other words. Also, more of this deep blue (in the water) and a sky of almost print-like quality (that pale light blue is like an artist's conception). And beautiful beiges and greens on the rock. This is definitely a powerful subject material for you...

btw, I appreciated your comment about the many types of camera, lens, and approaches to a photo (when I was saying that I didn't want to mess with the photo too much, when I first learned photography). It was in the spirit of, "I want to learn the basics of the piano before I jump in and transform it." It's an approach I learned from my classical training, and I found it to be the best for me, but it may not be for everyone. (So, though I gained some freedom from my background in drawing and painting, I still had to learn the camera from scratch, so to speak, and it was only after several months that I began to be creative with it. But of course you're right: There's no one way, no one approach, no one camera or lens, etc.)
