Description
Nalfaar's one of the M4 characters I get the most use out of, so I wanted to "thank" him by doing his portrait.
I am a big fan of Fotosketcher and love to experiment with different graphic styles by combining elements of each treatment into one final image using different blending and masking techniques in GIMP. I was never an ideal art student, but even I would vary my brush and stroke technique when I worked in watercolour. In case you were curious, before I render an image I consider what sort of postwork (if any) I am going to engage in. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but I always learn new things.
Enjoy!

This looks awesome!
Formidable artwork !!!
If only I could figure out of who this guy reminds me!? Awesome portrayal as well as fantastic postwork! This should sooo be printed on canvas, large size. My wall is waiting :)
Stunning and wonderful! I feel a bit "out of words" when looking at this. In the best ways possible!
Cool!
Great portrait. The postwork is very original
Thank you, everyone, for your thoughts and comments. Much appreciated!
Amazing the kind of hand-painted feel that can be digitally generated. Very good-looking portrait. I like the wistful, slightly sad expression. :)
Indeed. Whenever I postwork a render or a photo to simulate a painting, I usually composite and blend several different layers treated with different filters and effects. The results do vary depending on the source material because some images lend themselves better to this treatment than others do.. It also helps if you're familiar with real world pastel and watercolour techniques, because it can help you to better simulate what is possible within those media.
This is amazingly cool. Love the look of this totally. Beautiful work.
