i don't think it's dying----the bloom's just done. i have these all over my yard and i don't think they ever die; they just take over!!

A great image but I think you right Richard - it doesn't look too healthy.
The flower is beautiful. Try cutting off the stalks with the seed pods on them. They are telling the plant that it's time to quit blooming. Give it a good water with fertilizer mixed in and see what happens. Cannas usually bloom all summer.
