Description
We visited the Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton, Virginia, today. The main entrance is a massive lychgate attached to the office. I got a few shots of the cemetery side of the lychgate, but the sun was in the wrong place, so you'll have to settle for a link to someone else's photograph if you want to see it.

After driving through the gate, the road climbs between two hills, which are spanned by this bridge. It's a beautiful cemetery, founded in 1849.
I'll be posting a view of the bridge from the top as well. It's quite a structure!

I agree with Claude, these stone structures are impressive. And the gnarled old trees seem just the right accompaniment for a cemetery.
It is a real beauty. It reminds me of somewhere I have been in England, but I cannot remember where.
