Near Lone Pine, California
April, 2016
This is on the east side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, just west of Highway 395 outside of Lone Pine, California. Bill and I spent hours and hours driving around on dirt roads, enjoying one amazing vista after another. It's a unique place!
One of the (many) things we no longer have with the "new" Renderosity is that there is no image count. Having done the math and paid attention, though, I can tell you this is the 2,900th post in my gallery. :)

My first thought when I saw this was "iconic". Then came the "wow". This is about as perfect an image as I've ever seen.
Love the three layers in this shot - outstanding composition & light. Although I have a very slight curiosity about how many images I've posted, I haven't been paying attention & am too lazy to do the math...

Yeah, I miss the image count in the galleries, too. I have no idea how many are in my gallery. I guess I could go through all the pages and count 'em, but I have plenty of other things to do with my time.. So glad they asked if that feature was useful to us when they inflicted that 'revolution' on us. Cynical? Me?? Nah.....

WOW! What a fabulous shot. Bad weather coming, but not yet arrived and the sun is struggling to come through the heavy clouds a moment more, makes this photograph unique. Love this shot. I am so glad you have a good eye to see all this and photograph it.

Congratulations on 2900! That's a grand number (no pun intended). (I'm at 911---which sucks, because there's no 'big' number near it: 950, 1000---fuggeddit. I got a ways to go.) A beautiful image, more of your dark light illumined by gentle "washes" of light in the fore and background. And real contrast in the hues of the foreground with background. With a "lowering sky" (a Shakespearean phrase meaning a low, threatening sky). Beautiful light and texture. A beautiful shot, Tara. With real clarity, for a dark and brooding shot...
Great ominous looking scene Tara. I went there with my mother when she visited in 1984-85. We tried to get toward the mountains from Highway 395 but the road was closed due to snow, and, I think, it is closed in winter anyway. Looking at your picture, if I would consider hiking there, I would change my mind!
