Description
Gumby had a difficult time clearing the overhead wires while celebrating the 50th birthday anniversary of my city, captured way back in August of 2007.
I really never got to see his cheerful face.
Gumby is an American clay animation franchise, centered on a green clay humanoid character created and modeled by Art Clokey. The character has been the subject of two television series as well as a feature-length film and other media. Since the original series' run, he has become well known as an example of stop motion clay animation and an influential cultural icon, spawning many tributes, parodies, and merchandising.

so that's why he's nearly horizontal---to clear the electrical wires! I was wondering why he was looking like a stick of chewing gum. Love how bold he is, here, against the beiges and whites of the shot. And how big! The second shot really brings out his span, and how unreal he looks. And the third one shows us the wires---it's almost frightening to think that he could snap one of those, and power would go out for a city block. Delightful shots, and the first one looks like he's about to descend on those people and crush them, poor dudes.

Ah, Gumby... I remember him all too well. Mid to late 1950s. I recall seeing him on TV at a neighbor's apartment. Nice to see him here! Thanks for the memory. Keep up the good work! :-)
