The beautiful French Hens, constructed of rice paper, could easily be mistaken for bananas, or native boats, especially at night, in another one of your sharp night shots, Carin. You did fine without a tripod.

I do understand these were handheld; and given my results with handheld shots in the dark, these are spectacular. Love the way the hens glow brilliantly, and the leaves below are in that dark golden red. And so much black. Beautiful balance of hues, and it evokes the holiday so beautifully. Beautifully done. (The birds look like big pieces of citrus fruit. Or strange cashews They almost edible!
(another note, lol, hold on---"French Hens" were supposed to be the creme de la creme of hens. I don't know why. But I suppose a medieval family sitting around the fire took a bite and said: "Duuude: French! How did we afford this!")
