Description

This image was made on a different day than the St Paul's images. We just came across the Westminster Bridge and I'm looking back towards the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. There were thousands of tourists on the bridge so taking a photo was a challenge. The light was also coming from the side and not lighting up ole Ben like I would have loved too. At least the lamp is very ornate!

Cool, but I see a problem at the top of bell tower... probably, a slight misalignment between two merged pictures (stitch or HDR?)

Very observant. Yes - it is a stitched image. The 2 images were taken hand held and not with a tripod hence the slight misalignment. Using a tripod in those crowds are not possible.

An interesting juxtaposition of two tall vertical structures. Even though my brain & visual sense inform me that the lamp is much smaller than Big Ben & that it only appears larger because it's closer, I still feel a kind of ambiguity & tension because of the similarity in their apparent sizes in two dimensional space. Aside from that, you've captured their ornate elegance very well...

A superb shot! The addition of the lamp post is brilliant. Great light and color.

Just for clarification - the two photos both looked exactly like the end product - in the one Big Ben was in focus and in the other the lamp was in focused. I combined it to have both in focus, thus the perspective and angle is very true.

I like this, of course I know exactly this POV, back in 2013, I took Dee around this area, and she got a shot of the lamps by and a shot of "Queen Elizabeth tower" formerly "Westminster palace tower", big ben is actually never seen, and is the bell that sounds the rich deep "Bong" after the arpeggio of smaller chimes, now can you see what a great guide I would have been LOL As the negatives aside here, I like the shot, you did good :)

I know I'm skipping around, but I want to get more of the images I've missed...The light may not be where you wanted it, but it gives a gilded look to both, golden highlights rather than bathed in gold. And the juxtaposition of the two forms is striking; with (of course) the optical illusion that the lamp is as large as the tower. (That'd be a big lamp!) And I like the morphing of sky-hues from the bottom to the top. Stark and beautiful; I'm with Andrea, Mark and Harry, among others: I think this is a wonderful shot.
